Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited has acquired spectrum rights in the 800 MHz band of Andhra Pradesh, Delhi and Mumbai circles under a spectrum-trading agreement with Bharti Airtel Limited. Reliance Jio will be able to provide better services to its customers by using 3.75 in Andhra Pradesh, 1.25 in Delhi and 2.50 MHz in Mumbai in the 800 MHz band. Reliance Jio will have a total of 7.5 MHz of additional spectrum available in these three circles.

This trading agreement has been done as per the spectrum trading guidelines issued by the Department of Telecommunications. The agreement will be in force only after all regulatory and statutory approvals. Reliance Jio will pay a total of Rs 1,497 crore to buy spectrum. This includes payment of 459 crores adjusted under deferred payment.

Following the agreement for spectrum usage, Reliance Jio will have 2X15MHz spectrum in the 800MHz band of Mumbai Circle and 2X10MHz spectrum in the 800MHz band in Andhra Pradesh and Delhi circles, thereby providing spectrum based customers in these circles. Services will be strengthened further. It is expected that with the addition of new spectrum, Reliance Jio’s infrastructure and network capacity will improve further.
