In daily life, we are two to four with many words, whose short form we know but not the full form. Apart from this, full form questions are also frequently asked in competitive examinations. In this series, 5 such full forms have been given, which are useful for the general public as well as the students preparing for the competitive exam.
Additional Knowledge- The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) is a satellite system operated by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). India has developed it to launch its remote sensing satellite in Sun synchronous orbit. It was successfully launched in 1994 for the first time. This is the first launch vehicle in India, which has a liquid stage i.e. a liquid rocket engine has been used.
India’s first PSLV technology was only with Russia. India not only developed it better, but also made several successful launches. This is the reason that today it is known as the most reliable satellite vehicle in the world. With this help, in 2008, Chandrayaan-I spacecraft was sent to the moon and in 2013 Mars Orbiter Space Craft was sent to Mars.
Additional Knowledge- The Central Board of Film Certification or Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was established under the Cinematograph Act 1952. It was earlier known as Censor Board. The board issues certificates for various categories of films to be screened in India. No domestic and foreign films can be made public in the country without the permission of the board. The board consists of 25 other non-government members in addition to the chairman.
A certificate is given based on the content shown in the films. It is also decided to which audience the film is worthy of showing. It works under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. The Censor Board has a total of 9 offices located in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Cuttack, Guwahati and Kolkata. Presently, the chairman of the censor board is Prasoon Joshi.
How many types of certificates are there?
Additional Knowledge- The National Highway Authority of India or National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is an autonomous agency of the Government of India, which comes under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of the Government. NHAI was established in 1988 and was launched in February 1995. Along with looking after the national highway of the country, it surveyes new routes and converts them into national highway.
It is a nodal agency of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. It also works for the development, maintenance of national highways as well as toll collection on highways. It is also responsible for managing the network of more than 50,000 kilometers of national highways out of 1,15,000 kilometers in India.
Additional Knowledge- IRCTC is a branch of the Indian Railways, which handles the catering, tourism and online ticket booking of the Indian Railways. Its purpose is to provide food and drink to the passengers traveling on the Indian Railways during the journey, which is necessary for a person while traveling.
Apart from this, IRCTC also provides online ticket booking services to customers. It is the second largest online ticket booking service in the world. It works under the Government of India. Like Indian Railways, the governing body of IRCTC is the Government of India. However, it is maintained by the Ministry of Railways. The Chairman of IRCTC is currently Rajni Hasija.
Additional Knowledge- The State Disaster Response Force or State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was formed in the year 2009 by the State Governments under Section 3.4.5 of the National Policy on Disaster Management to fight disaster in the state. Its objective is to start relief work immediately in the event of any disaster in the state.
The Central and State Governments jointly operate the SDRF. The SDRF’s main task is to help the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team at the time of the disaster and provide immediate relief to the people.
